The place

Muyil and the canals of the old Maya traders

The canals crossing the Sian Ka’an lagoons were dug by the Maya more than a thousand years ago to link their trade routes. Muyil, one of the oldest sites in the region, guarded the entrance. Today you simply let yourself float, carried by a translucent freshwater current between sky and mangrove: a weightless moment nobody comes back from unmoved.
