Isla Holbox,the island without cars.

The place
Holbox, the island that gets around by tricycle
Inside the Yum Balam reserve, Holbox stretches for 40 km without a single car: here you move around by tricycle or barefoot through sand streets. A former haunt of fishermen, and of pirates, the island keeps its end-of-the-world soul: colourful murals, hammocks standing in the water, and in summer the bioluminescence that makes the sea sparkle after dark.

How the day unfolds.

We drive to the village of Chiquilá, about 1 hour 45 minutes from Playa del Carmen. It is a fairly close destination.
- MorningIsla Pasión
A white sandbank on a small unspoiled island you can walk across in a few minutes. A wooden viewpoint looks out over the turquoise water and the wild expanses where Canadian pelicans and migratory birds stop over.
- MorningPunta Mosquito
The great sandbank at the south of the island, larger or smaller depending on the season. It is what makes Isla Holbox one of the most beautiful beaches in the region.
- Late morningLanding at Holbox
A fishing village with no big brand names, unpaved streets and everyone getting around by golf cart. The center is known for its street art murals. Enjoy it now: in a few years it will have changed a great deal.
- MiddayLunch by the sea
In a small restaurant, with hammocks in the water and all the time you need for a swim. Lunch is included, and you have free time before and after.
- AfternoonThe bird island
On the other side of the lagoon: flamingos in summer, Canadian pelicans in winter, and sometimes dolphins that come to rest there during the day.

This is a boat and beach excursion: if the weather turns, we postpone rather than give you a mediocre day.
It shows at night (mostly in summer) and this is a day trip, but we will tell you everything if you stay overnight.
You write to us (form, email or WhatsApp) with your dates, your hotel and how many of you there are; we confirm quickly. A deposit of €10 per person from 3 people (refundable up to 48 h before), the balance on the day in euros, pesos or dollars.
Straight from your hotel or accommodation in Playa del Carmen, Tulum or Puerto Morelos. In Cancún, pick-up is available for Isla Mujeres and Isla Contoy (and for groups, on request). The exact time is confirmed the day before on WhatsApp.
