The place

Cozumel, the reef Cousteau made known to the world

It was Jacques-Yves Cousteau who, in 1961, revealed the seabeds of Cozumel to the world; they are now protected by a national marine park. The island “of the swallows” in Maya sits on the second largest coral reef on the planet. Its jewel, open to everyone, is El Cielo, “the sky”, a sandbank one metre deep scattered with starfish.
